Summary

Day diary used by Australian anthropologist, Sir Walter Baldwin Spencer on what became his final expedition. In 1929, accompanied by Jean Hamilton he travelled to Tierra del Fuego to study the Yaghan people. Each day he recorded brief jottings and then later expanded on these in a large excercise book [which is now housed at Pitt Rivers Museum in Oxford]. He passed away five months into the journey, early in the morning of July 14, 1929. This pocket diary records his last written words on July 12.
