Baggage label for the 'Goya' issued to Bretislav Lukes, from his journey from Bremerhaven to Australia in 1950. Bretislav Lukes was born 12 January 1922 in Stankou in Czechoslovakia. Following the war he trained as an electrician while in an International Refugee Organisation Camp. He migrated to Australia on the Goya in 1950 and was sent to Bonegilla. His compulsory employment was for Australian Iron and Steel at Port Kembla, possibly on the Snowy Hydro-electric Scheme. He then moved to Melbourne where he worked for Myer as a TV repair man, at Watson Victa making x-ray machines and finally as a technician in the Physics Department at Swinburne Institute of Technology.
