Summary

Colour proof published as Plate 4 in The Prodromus of the Zoology of Victoria by Frederick McCoy. McCoy stated that this was the first published image of a Yellowfin Bream, Acanthopagrus australis, noting that it "is common in the Gippsland Lakes as well as Hobsons Bay". Although Yellowfin Bream do occur in the Gippsland Lakes, they are more common the east coast of Australia. The Black Bream, which was not described until 1949, occurs along the south coast, and is common in the lakes.
