Kodak Australasia Pty Ltd sponsored many different events and organisations around Australia. Many of these sponsorship agreements gave Kodak exclusive rights to sell photographic products and provide technical support at events. Others gave the Kodak brand greater exposure through displaying the company's logo or through associating the company with 'goodwill' campaigns. All of the agreements, however, were shrewd marketing endeavours.
Kodak was heavily involved in sponsoring sporting events, most notably the Olympic Games and the Sydney to Hobart yacht race. Kodak also sponsored individual teams within events, such as the Australia III and the Spirit of Australia yachts in the America's Cup yacht race. Kodak also sponsored staff participating in charitable events such as the 33km walk for Community Aid Abroad in 1977, and the Doxa Run, which was part of the Australian Bicentennial celebrations in 1988.
Kodak's involvement in the cultural sector was similarly longstanding and generous, as they provided funds for the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) to establish a permanent collection of Australian photography. Kodak also sponsored the National Gallery of Australia (NGA) and, in recognition of their support, became a Life Governor of the NGA in 1993. Kodak received a Douglas Annand medallion in commemoration of this event.
Kodak also had a variety of sponsorship agreements where they provided photographic processing facilities onsite at tourist venues, including with Movie World and SeaWorld in Queensland. The company provided a 'Kodak Express' bus at Movie World too.
Kodak additionally sponsored zoos, including the research program at the Dubbo Zoo in New South Wales for the Asiatic Lion, an endangered species, and as well as the Free Flight Bird Show at the Taronga Zoo, Sydney.
