The Australian operations of this company were originally founded by Hugh V. McKay in the 1890s. The McKay collection is regarded as one of the most significant industrial heritage collections in Australia.

Looking south from the overhead foot-bridge, the image shows the railway signal box and railway gates at Sun Crescent. The ambulances (white coverings with red crosses) and wagons ready for transport to the armed forces in Sydney, are on the spur line leading into 'Russell Street'.
