Other Details: Queen Victoria's diamond jubilee in 1897 was celebrated the great enthusiasm throughout the British Empire. It prompted many Australian local governments to issue commemorative medals. This medal was issued by G. Shenton, Mayor of Perth.

The mint name 'STOKES & MARTIN' in the truncation of the Queen's neck instead of the normal H.S. for Harry Stokes. The piece seems to be cast rather than struck.
