This clam shell type platen printing press was manufactured by Johne Monopol but the date of manufacture is unknown. The machine was used by the Government Printing Office and there is a record of a similar press purchased by them in 1937. It was a heavy duty press used for scoring and die-cutting. The letterpess machine was manufactured in Germany and is powered by an electric motor.
