Significance

The Lord of Ch√Ętillon, Gaspard was a French nobleman and admiral. He is remembered as a disciplined Huguenot leader in the French Wars of Religion (1562-1598). The date of his birth on this medal, 1516, differs from that now accepted, 1519.
