Other Details: This is a commemorative medal of the Intercolonial exhibition held in Melbourne in 1875 to select entries for the Philidelphia Centennial Exhibition of 1876 in the United States of America.
A white metal striking of the commemorative medal (37 mm diameter). It features a young head of Queen Victoria wearing a coronet and a Victory flying above a globe bearing a torch of knowledge and a Victor's wreath from Australia towards the USA.
At centre within a ring divided by six shields, head on Queen Victoria facing left wearing coronet and pearl necklace, around, EXHIBITION MELBOURNE; on ring between shields, VICTORIA S.AUSTRALIA QUEENSLAND W.AUSTRALIA N.S.WALES TASMANIA; around on brioad rim, COMMEMORATION MEDAL + AUSTRALASIA 1875 + PHILADELPHIA 1876 + ; makers name STOKES & MARTIN in tiny letters between ring and broad rim at 06; I.H. incuse on truncation.
