Other Details: Silver medal commissioned by the Williamstown Rifle Range in 1879. It was presented by the Mayor of Williamstown, W.F. Knight, at the final match of the Williamstown Ranges, and was won by Bombardier W.A. Lancaster on February 15 1879.

Significance

The Williamstown Rifle Range was established in 1877. Originally training ground for soldiers, it was later used by the police and civilian rifle clubs and school cadets.
