2 Annas, Issued by India, 1862
Crowned and robed bust of the queen facing left; around VICTORIA QUEEN (inverted V at centre of bust truncation)
Within entwined scrollwork of Indian flora, TWO / ANNAS / INDIA / 1862
Attribution of the 2 anna coins to mint that produced them is through the diameter of the coins. Pridmore (p.137) reports 15.3 or 15.4 mm are from Calcutta; 15.7 to 15.9 are from Bombay; and 16.0 are from Madras. These attributions are derived from issues from the mid 1870s from the Bombay mint which bear a mint mark of a bead and have this diameter.
