Designed for use as a cascode amplifier in television tuners. Known as ECC180 in Europe.
The cascode circuit uses two triodes with one as a common cathode stage feeding the other as a grounded grid stage. The cathode of the second stage is connected directly to the anode of the first stage so that the two triodes are in series.
The main advantage of the cascode circuit is that it gives the low noise of a triode without the need for neutralisation.
