This glazed ornamental wall tile was made by the Campbell Brick & Tile Co. in Stoke-on-Trent, England. It is a 'inlaid' or 'encaustic' tile, meaning the design is inlaid into the body of the tile. It was exhibited at the 1880 Melbourne International Exhibition.

Physical Description

Inlaid or encaustic tile with conventional floral design. Features diamonds in red, brown and yellow, with a stylized floral pattern in green and blue in the centre of each diamond. The design is set on a white background of facing body china clay.
