Summary

Compound type diagonal marine steam engine driving a set of paddlewheels. Entire unit mounted in a cross section of ship's hull. This type of engine was used in large, seagoing steam vessels during the late 19th and early 20th century. The paddles are fitted with a feathering device to improve efficiency. Model scale 1:16. Model purchased from James Struthers, Renfrew, Scotland, 27/02/1934.
