Model of the Royal Navy Improved Birmingham class heavy cruiser HMS Effingham commissioned in 1925 (9550 tons). This model shows the ship following extensive modification in 1937-38. HMS Effingham was lost during the Norwegian Campaign after colliding with a rock on 18 May 1940 near Bodo. This model was acquired from the model-maker Mr E.J. Krummeck in 1941 as one of a large collection of naval ship models. Krummeck was a member of the Victorian Model Shipbuilding Society.
