Quenched spark gaps, used with a spark radio transmitter, formed by four adjustable gaps wired in series and fitted with cooling fins. The purpose of the fins and the distribution of the spark between four separate gaps and cooling fins were to prevent the formation of a mertal vapour arc.

A quenched gap restricted the amount of time that the primary tuned circuit would remain active so stopping the enegy feedback from the secondary tuned circuit.

Physical Description

Dark brown wooden base supporting an assembly of two pairs of finned adjustable spark gaps, each pair mounted on an insulated plate; one pair above the other. The two plates are supported by four threaded rods.
