Other Details: This gilt medal represents a promise of abstinence from intoxicating drinks offered under Rev. P. Hennebery around 1885. The medal is holed and was probably originally worn on a ribbon through a loop in the hole. It features the Temperence Arms and pledge.
A white metal medal (41mm diameter) holed and probably originally worn on a ribbon through a loop in the hole. It features the Temperence Arms and the pladge.
At centre the Temperance movement Arms, a shield bearing a lamb advancing left holding a flag over its shoulder above the letters IHS, supported by a man on left holding a flag bearing the word SOBRIETY and a woman on right bearing a flag with the words DOMESTIC COMFORT; above shield a radiate cross on three steps with angels flying right and left crowning man and woman with wreaths; below shield two children kneel; around above, IN HOC SI[G]NO VINCES (holed through the "G"); around below, FRUITS OF TEMPERANCE; on ribbon below shield, HAPPINESS; mint name, STOKES & MARTIN MELBOURNE in small letters above ribbon.
