This crimson embossed satin sash was worn by a Past Grand or Noble Grand of the Manchester Unity. The sash was made by G Tutil, London. The common Manchester Unity sash is blue silk with silver trim.

Physical Description

Sash of a coarse silk fabric - similar to grosgrain, embossed with a design featuring wreaths of roses enclosing the symbols of Faith, Hope and Charity (cross, anchor and heart) as well as a sword, a horn and two hands, one with a heart on its palm. On the front of the sash is the Manchester Unity symbol, woven in silk. It features the all-seeing eye, coat of arms and other symbols of the Order. The edges of the sash are embossed in yellow and the ends are trimmed with a gold fringe. On one edge are a large hook and eye.
