Bottle containing codeine tablets used in the pharmacy of a mental health hospital in Victoria, Australia, circa 1935. Manufactured by Felton, Grimwade & Duerdins Ltd. Codein is an analgesic with similar uses to those of morphine but has only mild sedative effects.

Physical Description

Drug is contained in a small, brown glass bottle with oval base, straight sides, short neck with cork. Contents discarded by Conservation 1996. Minor residues only remain on the interior. The original contents were an S8 scheduled poison with the ingredient codeine (note: where codeine is not blended with another compound it is an S8 scheduled pharmaceutical).
