Belt made by Mrs. Glory Toom, circa 1989-1990. The design comes from the Tostamaa region of Estonia and is worn by women to indicate they are married. The Tostamaa region is a rural area of 261 square km, on the southwest cost of Estonia. During and immediately after World War II there was extensive emigration from the region both to Western Europe and into the larger cities.
