Summary

Canvas trunk used by Mr and Mrs W. E. Allan and their son David, who was aged six, when they immigrated to Australia from England on the Orient Line ship RMS Ormonde, departing London on 21 May 1948. They were sponsored by an 'Uncle Fred' and first settled in Tasmania before moving to Melbourne.

Physical Description

Rectangular canvas trunk with hinged metal lid. The trunk is trimmed in a dark green and has metal studs along the edges. There are also handles on two sides and a metal clasp with a lock and two metal latches at the front.
