Summary

Minisheet first day cover for 60 cent and 2 dollars 60 cents stamps, issued to commemorate the Centenary of the First Commonwealth Banknote. Issued by Australia Post in Melbourne, 11 May 2013, during the World Stamp Fair held at the Royal Exhibition Buildings, 10 -15 May 2013. The design of the minisheet incorporates the image of the first Commonwealth Banknote, which was a 10 shilling note bearing the serial number M000001.

Physical Description

The minisheet includes a facsimile image of one side of the first ten shilling banknote, with the 2013 stamps, 60 cent and $2.60, incorporated into the design. It is blue and white with the serial number M000001 printed in red. The background is faint yellow and purple. On the left is the $2.60 cent stamp, with the coat of arms in an oval, the serial number in red beneath, and the International Post logo. On the right, the 60 cent stamp. The oval image is a photograph of the Hon. Judith Denman, daughter of the Governor, at the numbering ceremony 1 May 1913, with the serial number in red beneath. Each stamp is postmarked with an oval with a crown above and the serial number in the centre, FIRST DAY OF ISSUE / 11 MAY 2013 / MELBOURNE VIC 3000. The reverse of the cover includes explanatory text, credits, standard Australia Post details, and a logo for the centenary of the Kangaroo and Map stamp.
