This booklet was issued by the Government of Victoria 'in the interests of fire prevention and community safety'. It was first published in 1966, and reprinted in 1967.

This 40 page, illustrated booklet has a foreword by the Premier of Victoria, Henry Bolte. 38 chapters cover the impact of fires on lives and property, how to prevent fires and protect property against fire, the best way to control fires and rules for survival. The photographs show graphic examples of the impact of fires on property and wildlife, and how to prepare for fire. Illustrations include line drawings and segments of press articles from previous fire events.

This booklet was part of the pamphlet collection held by the Science Museum of Victoria.
