Glass Negative depicting the harbour at Commonwealth Bay in Antarctica. It is one of a number of glass negatives by Eric Douglas and Frank Hurley taken during Voyages 2 of the British Australian New Zealand Antarctic Research Expedition (BANZARE), 1930-1931.

Eric Douglas was one of the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) pilots who participated in BANZARE, 1929-1931. He was also a keen amateur photographer and worked with professional photographer Frank Hurley during both BANZARE voyages.

Description of Content

A photograph which was taken during Voyage 2 of the British Australian New Zealand Antarctic Research Expedition (BANZARE). Eric Douglas captioned the image 'Boat Harbour at Commonwealth Bay Adelie Land'. Image taken, looking out to sea at the Mackellar Islets in Commonwealth Bay, The Boat harbour is the small patch of water in the center of the image hugging the coast.
