Summary

One of 320 images of Antarctica. The images were taken by RAAF pilot Eric Douglas and professional photographer and cinematographer Frank Hurley on Voyage 1 (1929 - 30) and Voyage 2 (1930 - 31) of the British Australian New Zealand Antarctic Research Expedition (BANZARE). The expedition was led by Sir Douglas Mawson and concentrated on oceanography, Antarctic and subantarctic marine biology, and Antarctic coastal exploration. The Eric Douglas Collection also includes artefacts, paintings and photgraphic prints. Among the artefacts is the camera used by Douglas to take the photographs attributed to him in this collection.
