Black & white photograph of HRH Princess Alexandra thanking Miss Julie Smith, a youth member of the Red Cross, who opened the door for the Princess upon arrival out the front of Centennial Hall at the Royal Exhibition Buildings, taken on the occasion of the centenary of the Buildings on 1 October 1980.

This is one of 959 photographs (or images) of the Exhibition Building collated by the Exhibition Trustees as a 10 volume pictorial history of the Exhibition Building spanning the years 1880 to 1985. The pictorial history was instigated by the centenary of the Exhibition Building in 1980 and forms part of a larger Royal Exhibition Building collection of documents, photographs, objects and research files.

The Exhibition Trustees Chairman, Mr Freeman Strickland, OBE, is standing with his back to camera on the right of the image. There is a printed caption below the photograph.
