Summary

Black & white photograph of the construction of Centennial Hall taken from the southern end of the Nicholson Street carpark in February 1980. The carpark would shortly be demolished to make way for the garden and landscape redevelopment around the eastern and southern faces of Centennial Hall.

This is one of 959 photographs (or images) of the Exhibition Building collated by the Exhibition Trustees as a 10 volume pictorial history of the Exhibition Building spanning the years 1880 to 1985. The pictorial history was instigated by the centenary of the Exhibition Building in 1980 and forms part of a larger Royal Exhibition Building collection of documents, photographs, objects and research files.

The images shows rows of cars parked in the Nicholson Street carpark on the east of the Exhibition Buildings, with the partly constructed Centennial Hall visible in the left background. The carpark would shortly be demolished to make way for the garden and landscape around the eastern and southern faces of Centennial Hall. There is a printed caption below the photograph.
