Description of Content

CSIR Mk 1 memory cabinet with mercury delay lines on stand in foreground, Sydney, 23 May, 1952.. In Sydney, the mercury delay lines were not temperature controlled and the frequency control relied only on the feedback system. Introducing temperature control, after the move to Melbourne, made the system more reliable. This photograph of CSIR Mk1 in Sydney shows the delay lines mounted in front of the memory cabinet and without a temperature controlled box.
