Epergne in red glass with gilded decoration. The exact origin of the epergne is not known, but a number of European Courts displayed glass, including Austro-Hungary, Italy, France and Belgium.

The epergne was exhibited at the Melbourne International Exhibition, where it was purchased by John Twycross.

Physical Description

Tapering fluted vase with pointed crenellated rim centred in footed bowl with scalloped edging. Ruby glass, painted all over in gilt tendrils of hearts and Grecian key pattern. In two parts, vase sits in bowl. No marks.
