Sword belt, which was worn by Robert McKeeman Oakley, an officer in the Victorian Artillery Garrison, from 1892-1901, and in the Australian Garrison Artillery from 1901. There are no identifying marks.

The sword belt was worn around the waist. The two slings of differing lengths were attached to the belt; a sword was attached to the bottom of the slings.

Physical Description

The leather sword belt fastens with a simple rectangular metal buckle with two teeth. The belt has two rings and a hook at the front. The slings attached to the rings. The hook allowed the sword to be worn up. Stitching on the reverse indicates the belt was once decorated on the obverse.
