Typical South Tyrolean clay pipe, owned and smoked occasionally by Heinrich Wieser. He brought it with him when he migrated to Australia from Germany with his family in 1951. Although he was of German ethnicity, growing up and living in South Tyrol meant Heinrich's citizenship was unclear, considered an Italian citizen prior to World War II after the war he was alternately considered to have Italian and German citizenship. Heinrich found it difficult to settle in Australia and moved to Papua New Guinea before returning to South Tyrol in 1958.

Physical Description

Typical South Tyrolean clay pipe. It is cream coloured with a high, narrow rounded bowl and a medium length stem.
