Scenery card for a praxinoscope theatre featuring a snowy landscape. A rustic three storey building sits alongside a river, over which a narrow bridge stretches. This card is number 4 of a set and all were interchangeable, giving the viewer the freedom to set the scene. These cards were placed so as to be reflected by a glass pane, allowing the viewer to perceive the animation occurring within that particular scene.

This praxinoscope theatre scenery card is part of the Francis Collection of pre-cinematic apparatus and ephemera, acquired by the Australian and Victorian Governments in 1975. David Francis was the curator of the National Film and Sound Archive of the British Film Institute as well as being a co-founder of the Museum of the Moving Image in London, which was operational between 1988 and 1999.
