Playing cards produced as souvenirs for the Orient ship line 'Oronsay', circa 1950s. The Oronsay transported migrants to Australia after World War Two. The cards feature the image of Neptune which was a popular symbol of the ocean voyage and appeared commonly on the crossing the equator certificates received my many passengers.

Physical Description

Twin set playing cards contained in vinyl/leather case modelled as 2 adjoining gilt book covers - 1 red, 1 cream. 'Oronsay' and Orient Line flag embossed on front. Case has strap and press stud to seal. 1 pack cards pink, 1 blue, all with same image of Neptune and 'P&O Orient' inscribed on each card.
