This is what Kyle wrote about his bushfire painting:
'I drew the letters CFA and a picture of a helicopter in the top corner, releasing water onto a fire. My Dad works for the CFA so that's why I chose to draw the CFA symbol in the middle and I drew the helicopter because there were lots of helicopters in the air that day. We saw smoke from the Coldstream fire out the back. We saw the Yarra Glenn [sic]/ Chum fire come up to the top of a mountain and then the wind change blew it across the top of the other mountains. We were all wearing overalls and long sleeve shirts and we had water buckets all around the house. It was very hot wearing them but they were to protect us from the fires.
I remember missing school and they were the only good times during the fires.'
